The Super Bowl

Tonight was the Super Bowl, the football final. American football, mind you. The NY Giants versus the New England Patriots. So, the game starts ... and all I can see is a bunch of heavily padded guys that attack each other as soon as one of them gets his hands on the oval-shaped ball. One of the guys was a handsome one, the famous Tom Brady ... but he was playing in the enemy team. Basically, you get the ball only to loose it in less than 5 seconds as a result of rather violent tackling! Anything is allowed, short of gutting or scalping, to stop the other team! The game keeps being interrupted, every time one of the players falls for being blocked or tackled, only to re-start again for another 10 or 15 seconds. It's a 4 part game, 15 minutes each part ... but it can go for as long as 3 to 4 hours. And every 5 or 10 minutes ... commercials! As millions watch the final, this is one of the most lucrative moments for the marketing season. This is the occasion when most of the American nation gets to watch the newest commercials. Exciting! Then, after the first half of the game, there is always a performer on stage. This year it was Tom Petty, who played a list of songs including 3 of his greatest hits: I Won't Back Down, Free Fallin', American Girl ... he didn't play Into the Great Wide Open nor Learning to Fly ... remember those? Anyway, back to the game, well, the game went on and on, and my incomprehension remained. I know even less about american football than the little I know about baseball. To give you a more accurate and insightful version of it all, I thought it would be a good idea to have a guest writer, a Giant's fan, for a testimony of this year's game. In the next post in this blog, I give the field to ... Bobby Kim!
p.s. - I've just realized that I am the winner of the pool betting we did at the office! NY Giants 17, New England Patriots 14 ... that was my box! I'll win $150! oh yeah!!

Querida Sinapse, como queres tu que eu, à segunda-feira de manhã, leia em inglês sobre o futebol americano ou o baseball? Deliras?
