Halloween in NY
Friends visiting. In NY for a short but eventful week. Portuguese-Belgian couple, 3 kids. Arrived Saturday. Staying at the San Carlos Hotel. Midtown East. Portuguese-Italian couple, 1 kid. Arrived Sunday. Staying at my place. Columbus Circle.
Monday night, Halloween night. Meeting point: the lobby of the building where a couple of my friends live. French-English couple, 2 kids. Chelsea.
Mission: get the 6 kids together and head to 22nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues. My first trick or treat mission. One of the most beautiful streets in Chelsea, lined with trees, beautiful walk-up buildings and their important stoops, architecture styles spanning the 1800s, all the houses decorated for Halloween, everyone dressed-up, some costumes more creative than others, the children lining up to get their share of treats and sweets. Our kids are super excited, in their costumes. Their Halloween baskets filling up with all sorts of candy. There are no language barriers. All they need to do is ask. Trick or treat?
