This is the cover photo for The Doors' fifth album: "Morrison Hotel".
The album was released in 1970. Side A was named "Hard Rock Cafe" and side B was named "Morrison Hotel".
... in the good old days of LPs! os discos tinham dois lados! ;)
The cover photo for The Doors' fifth album was taken at the actual Morrison Hotel located at 1246 South Hope Street in Los Angeles.
Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist, was driving down South Hope Street when he noticed the Morrison Hotel. He reportedly called Jim Morrison and told him that he had found the perfect cover for their next album. They all went back to the site with the photographer Henry Diltz. The band asked the owners if they could photograph the hotel and they declined, so the band went inside when nobody was looking and took the photograph.
The casual dining restaurant chain Hard Rock Cafe was reportedly named after the first side of the album!
And the Morrison Hotel Gallery - specialized in music photography - was named after the photograph used for the album cover.

The Morrison Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, where the album's cover photo was snapped, closed its doors in 2007. Prior to that, the hotel had been low-income housing for residents of the central city.
Roadhouse Blues - which was first released as a single from this album "Morrison Hotel" - became a huge hit!
